Ukuleles!
Thank you to the Butterfield Family Association, the Butterfield music classroom has ukuleles! We are fortunate to have a classroom set of "Kohala Akamai Soprano AK-S" ukuleles. If you are interested in purchasing your own ukulele, and you live in the Libertyville area, I would recommend stopping by Libertyville Music. This was where we purchased the ukuleles for Butterfield.
At Butterfield, students will learn how to play the most commonly used chords and strumming patterns. The ukulele is then used as an accompaniment instrument and students are encouraged to sing as they play. By the end of the fifth grade ukulele unit, students will perform a song by singing and playing the ukulele in front of their class either by themselves or with a small group.
The link(s) below is to help all 5th Graders pick their songs for their project.
